World Vasectomy Day Announces its Commitmment to FP2030

World Vasectomy Day (WVD) has taken a significant step by announcing its commitment to Family Planning 2030 (FP2030), a global partnership dedicated to ensuring access to modern, high-quality family planning services by 2030. This commitment reinforces WVD’s mission to promote vasectomy as a safe and effective method of birth control. Since 2013, with over 1,000 participating providers from more than 30 countries, WVD has relocated its headquarters to a different country each year, inspiring over 124,000 vasectomies globally.

The collaboration with FP2030 will enable WVD to expand its efforts to educate the public about vasectomy, eliminate associated stigmas, and increase the availability of this procedure worldwide. Additionally, this alliance aims to foster a comprehensive approach to family planning, ensuring that both men and women have access to a full range of family planning options. Through this partnership, one of our goals is to encourage men to share reproductive responsibilities and become active participants in the conversation.

Regional Director Silvana Resendy Birhuett expressed her excitement about this new alliance: “Being a FP2030 commitment maker is a great opportunity to amplify our voice and continue empowering and motivating men to transform gender norms around reproductive health. Together, we will promote a more equitable world where men take a greater role in contraception in a conscious, responsible, and positive manner.”

With this commitment, WVD joins a network of organizations and governments dedicated to improving reproductive health worldwide. Together, we are all committed to overcoming cultural, economic, and access barriers that prevent many people from making informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health.

WVD’s commitment to FP2030 is an important step towards creating a world where everyone can freely decide the size of their family and the right time to have children, thus contributing to a healthier and more equitable future for all.
