Promoting Evidence-based Vasectomy Programming

Vasectomy is among the most cost-effective and safest family planning methods for meeting the needs of men and women who desire to limit future births, but it is underused in low-resource settings. By promoting and supporting the voluntary use of vasectomy, countries can move toward national family planning goals, decrease service delivery costs and integrate men into reproductive health as both informed supporters of women-controlled methods and as contraceptive users. FHI 360 in partnership with the Evidence Project has developed resources to help advocates, program managers, service providers and policymakers to promote the evidence-based practice of vasectomy, including:

  • Recent Experiences and Lessons Learned in Vasectomy ;
  • Programming in Low-Resource Settings;
  • How to Create Successful Vasectomy Programs (English and French); and
  • Promoting Vasectomy Services in countries, such as Burundi, Ethiopia, Haiti, and others.
