Meet our Youth Participants in the 5th Conference on Population and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean

The 5th Population and Development Conference is a momentous event that brings together leaders, experts, and activists from around the world to discuss and address the challenges and opportunities in population and development issues. This year, the event was further highlighted by the presence of talented youth representatives from FP2030 LAC Hub, Save the Children, and PASC. These young leaders not only contributed their valuable perspectives and experiences but also symbolize the voice and power of youth in shaping the global future.

FP2030 LAC Hub has selected a diverse and passionate group of young representatives who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to sexual and reproductive health. These young women are active advocates in their communities, working tirelessly to ensure that everyone has access to quality reproductive health services. Their participation in the conference was an opportunity to share their success stories and challenges, as well as to learn from other global leaders.

The representatives were: Anaí from Peru, Jasmín from Panama, Jenifer from Guatemala, Yoxana from Honduras, Tamara from Brazil, Thania from Peru, Mafe from Venezuela, Danha from Guatemala, and Ivania from Honduras. These young women were also participants in the Advocacy School, which equipped them with key tools for their participation.

A notable representative is Danha, a young Guatemalan who also belongs to the organization Jovenes Latidas. At the end of her participation in the 5th Population and Development Conference, Danha stated, “The Advocacy School guided me to create a greater recognition of a whole historical journey of struggle, which today has allowed women and youth to reach spaces to influence, such as the Regional Population and Development Conference.”

The participation of these young leaders in the 5th Population and Development Conference is a testament to the crucial role that youth play in building a more just and sustainable future. Their experiences and perspectives offer a fresh and vital vision for addressing global challenges, from reproductive health to environmental sustainability.

These representatives will not only share their knowledge and learnings but also learn from other leaders and experts, enriching their own capabilities to continue being agents of change in their communities. The conference is a platform for collaboration and exchange, and the presence of these young women ensures that the voices of youth are heard and valued in discussions about the future of our world. We are very proud of the participation of these young women in the 5th Population and Development Conference.
