On October 15, the Knowledge Exchange: Cultural Diversity in SRH organized by the FP2030 LAC Hub and KSUCCESS brought together over 30 participants from at least 13 countries: Panama, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, Antigua, Brazil, Guyana, Ecuador, Mexico, Colombia, Jamaica, Venezuela, and Trinidad and Tobago. This virtual event, focused on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) in the region, provided a dynamic space to strengthen dialogue among young professionals, activists, and allied organizations working to promote inclusive and culturally sensitive public policies.
With the participation of more than 15 allied organizations, such as Profamilia, Save the Children, Fundación Oxlajuj N’oj, GoJoven Honduras, and RedLAC, an enriching exchange of experiences and best practices was achieved. During the event, participants shared the local contexts of each country, exploring how public policies can contribute to the SRH agenda. One of the significant achievements was recognizing intersectionality within the various communities represented, highlighting the importance of identifying common areas of work to avoid duplication of efforts and enhance collaborations.
The exchange emphasized how the youth of the region play a central role in social transformation. The importance of continuing to provide dialogue spaces that allow young people to inspire each other, build solutions, and advance the recognition and protection of sexual and reproductive rights, especially in culturally diverse contexts, was stressed.
The richness of this diversity was reflected in the debates and proposals, where it was concluded that training processes and capacity-building initiatives must continue to evolve to adapt to the changing realities of youth. The success of this meeting reaffirms the need to continue investing in these regional exchanges as a tool to strengthen collective impact on the SRH agenda.
