FP is a crucial intervention for saving the lives of both mothers and children, as recognized globally by WHO in 2012. PPFP plays an important role in reducing the unmet need for FP. Postpartum women are among those with the highest unmet need for FP, but unfortunately, they often do not receive the necessary services to support longer birth intervals or prevent unintended pregnancies and their consequences. PPFP caters to the needs of both those who want to have children in the future (known as “spacers”) and those who have achieved their desired family size and want to avoid future pregnancies (known as “limiters”).
